We will often return the same night but just in case next day collection has been arranged – doing the above helps to protect the system from failing/bricking. RULES & SAFETY Please do not attempt to open up or fiddle with the inner workings of the Arcade Machine. There is potential danger of electric shock. Should there be an issue with regards to the working of the machine please first read the guide above before switching the machine ‘on and off’. 95% of issues are simply user error and a little patience can go a long way. NO FOOD OR DRINK ON THE MACHINES – this cannot be stressed enough. Players love to leave their drinks on the cabinet or control deck even within full view of the sticker which stresses doing the complete opposite. A spilt drink could potentially lead to irreparable damage that would cost the client significantly more than it did to hire the machine. Please supervise young children. Although the Arcade Machines are very robust. Young children will often swing from the joysticks and slam buttons at random. This may damage the controls and the experience of other guests during the remainder of the night.

Shuffleboard – How to play?

HOW TO PLAY
1. 2 teams, 1 – 4 players per team.
2. Both teams shoot towards the same end (you may swap ends between rounds)
3. Take it in turns to slide your pucks towards the end goal.
4. The team with a puck closest to the far end of the table wins the round. Losing team takes no points.
5. Calculate the score of every puck that finished beyond your opponent’s best effort. This is your team’s score.
6. First team to score 10 points wins a round. Winner of the match is the team that wins best 2 out of 3 rounds.
7. Feel free to set your own scoring rules to better fit desired length of game.

SCORING

The idea is to slide your puck into the highest scoring area without it falling off the end of the table or being knocked off by your opponent. You can also knock an opponent’s puck off the shuffleboard table with a slide from your own puck. If your overshoot your puck off the table, or it falls off either side and into the gutter then that’s no points. All pucks of the same colour beyond your opponent’s furthest puck are to be added together to find your score. Your opponent scored zero. You have to be fully over the line to achieve that zone’s score.

TACTICS

You can aim for an opponent’s puck, knocking it out of place or off the table altogether. If you judge it right, you can use the other puck as a  brake, bringing your puck to a hault as it knocks an opponent’s puck from the table. If you’ve already got a good score, you can sacrifice your own puck in order tactically eliminate your opponents. Be careful not to do more damage than good! When sliding the puck down the table, be wary of how easy it is to overshoot. It’s best to use just your thumb and forefinger (you can only use the one hand) to hold the puck. Have a slight bend in your elbow and lightly float it down the table. At the beginning of the game, you should aim for the highest score you can get without overshooting. As the scoring zone becomes more populated, employ tactics to gain the upper hand. This could include knocking off your opponent’s pucks, ‘hanging’ your puck over the edge to try to tempt your opponent into a risky response, or blocking your opponent’s clear route to the highest scoring zone.
